In the market for an e-reader? Barnes & Noble is offering some steep discounts on its Nook line — provided you like reading The New York Times or People Magazine. From now until March 9th, you can get Nook Color for $99 ($100 off) and a Nook Simple Touch for free (normally $99) with a one-year subscription to NYT ($19.99 per month, or about $240 for the year). Meanwhile, Nook Tablets are just $199 ($50 off) with a one-year commitment to People at $9.99 per month (about $120 annual). A word of caution, Banres & Noble's deal does include an early termination fee in the fine print. It's fairly simple: if you cancel the subscription before the year is over, you're responsible to pay back the discount ($99 for Nook Color and Simple Touch, $50 for Nook Tablet) — not pro-rated. After you sign up for the deal, you can choose to pick up the Nook in-store or have it shipped your way.
