Police have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect package in Trafalgar Square. Reports (unverified) on Twitter suggest a small package with solar panels and wires was found. Traffic restrictions remain while police look further into the situation.
This is the second time in a year that the tourist attraction has been evacuated over a security scare. In May last year, a threat from an Irish Republican group sealed off parts of central London.
