Last month Sega gave Android owners some good news: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II was in development for Android. While Episode II isn't due until later this year, Episode I is finally available in the Android Market, a full fifteen months after it was released on other platforms. The iPhone version of the game launched alongside its console siblings back in October 2010 to a mixed response, with criticism aimed at its lack of high-resolution support and less-than-stellar frame rate. It remains to be seen if Sega has improved on these issues while porting the game to Android, but it certainly hasn't been a clean launch for the company.

The game's market listing is littered with comments from Ice Cream Sandwich users complaining about the title constantly freezing and crashing on their devices. Sega has now added a note to the listing acknowledging the issue, and promise that they are working on a fix for release "as soon as possible." Sega seems to have removed the listing on ICS devices for now, as it's not showing up on our Galaxy Nexus. If you're not an Ice Cream Sandwich user, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I is available from the Android Market now, priced at $3.99.
