It turns out that Dr. Hank Chien is not just the reigning King of Kong — he's a pretty affable fellow as well. The Taiwan-born, Forest Hills, Queens-raised plastic surgeon is the subject of a recent New York Times character study that takes us to his Midtown Manhattan apartment (complete with coin-op Donkey Kong arcade machine), his favorite watering hole, and which introduces us to his girlfriend, Youmee Im (a "pretty mean" Centipede player in her own right).

Chien, who was inspired by the documentary King of Kong, most recently won back the world Donkey Kong championship with a score of 1,090,400 on February 27, 2011. His first world championship victory was chronicled in a documentary Doctor Kong: Cutting Up the Competition, the trailer for which is below.
