We knew it was coming, but Hitachi has announced pricing and availability for its internal and external 4TB hard drives. The 4TB Hitachi Deskstar 5K4000 comes with a mounting kit and the software necessary to get your Windows, Apple, or Linux system to recognize the drive. While it may be the biggest drive available to consumers, it's definitely not the fastest — the Deskstar runs at a "power-friendly" 5900rpm. Hitchachi also dropped this drive into an external closure and added it to the existing Touro Desk line. The Touro features USB 3.0 to help speed up the massive transfers you'll likely be doing with this drive, and the company's also throwing in 3GB of cloud storage for anyone who purchases the drive — though you probably scoff at 3GB if you're in the market for a 4TB drive. The Deskstar 5K4000 is available now in limited quantities for $399.99, while the Touro external drive will be available in January for $419.99.
