Create Christmas wish lists on your iPad with Amazon Santa

‘Tis the season for holiday shopping and Amazon has a gift for all of you hotsy-totsy iPad users. The Amazon Santa app allows kids to make a wish list of Amazon items that only parents and trusted contacts can see. Most importantly, it is designed from start to finish specifically with kids and parents in mind. Over half of a million age appropriate items are available for them to choose from, and parents can, at any time, review or edit the list before emailing it off to Grandma and Grandpa for last-minute shopping.

Seeing apps like Amazon Santa makes me step back and really think of how quickly the iPad has become the first truly personal computer for so many people. It’s a great platform for people to mess around, install apps, and accomplish everyday tasks. Where desktops and laptops have been intimidating or uninteresting to a certain class of person, the iPad is seen as inviting and simple. If the sales weren’t enough proof, the proliferation of neat niche apps like this from AAA companies showcases that Apple knocked it out of the park with the iPad platform.

It’s also nice to see that despite Amazon’s increasing competition with Apple, they’re still serving high-quality experiences to the iPad user base. It’ll be interesting to see how the next year’s holiday season will play out after a full year of Kindle-iPad competition has been fought. It’s going to get interesting, but let’s just enjoy ourselves for the time being.
