Vending machines have evolved quite a bit over the years — they can now give you hot food, movie rentals, and even pure gold — and Sanden's concept adds some new eye candy to vending's visage. Created in cooperation with Okaya Electronics and Intel, the Sandy Bridge-powered device has a transparent 65-inch touchscreen display that can show animations, information, and targeted advertisements using anonymous facial recognition and Intel's Audience Impression Metrics (AIM) system. While facial recognition and targeted advertising aren't new for vending machines, Sanden's implementation is pleasingly subtle. Additionally, the concept has a "public safety mode" that can display evacuation routes and other info in times of emergency, so you'll be able to thank it for saving you from more than mere thirst.
