With the 3D gimmick finally abandoned, TV displays have returned to being exciting products at this year's CES, but LG Display also has a couple of panels to excite those of us intrigued by more mobile screens. The undeniable star of LGD's new lineup is a 12.9-incher that spans a resolution of 2560 x 1700, though it's joined by an even more pixel-dense 7-inch, 1920 x 1200 screen, and a 5.5-inch model that touts the comparatively regular 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) res.

All three are made using AH-IPS, a screen technology you might be familiar with from LG's provision of recent iPhone and iPad displays. Needless to say, the image quality, color richness, and viewing angles on show are brilliant. For whatever reason, it was the larger, nearly 13-inch panel that really impressed me, but its 7-inch sibling is hardly an eyesore in itself.

Perhaps the best news of all here is that LG Display promises all three of these new screens will be in consumer products around the middle of this year. Product development is now complete, all that's left is to send them into mass production and, presumably, find a company eager to use them in its next major mobile product. Given the quality shown off at CES today, the latter part of that equation should be a mere formality.
