CHICAGO — A South Shore man who stuck a gun in his landlord’s face was hoarding an illegal “stockpile” of ammunition, police said.

Frank Johnson, 54, allegedly pointed a handgun at his landlord when given a five-day eviction notice at his home in the 2000 block of East 72nd Street.

After responding to a call from the fearful landlord about 7 p.m. Tuesday, police searched Johnson’s home.

They found a rifle, an AK-47 and 443 rounds of ammunition, including three 30-round magazines, one 10-round magazine and one five-round magazine.

Johnson, who does not have a valid FOID card, allegedly told officers that he does not have a handgun because "the judge said I couldn't," according to court records.

Johnson also allegedly told arresting officers, "I use to be like you guys" and claimed that he was a member of the Maywood Police Department at one time.

Maywood Police would not comment.

Johnson also allegedly told his landlord, "You make me get out, you're going to have to take me to court," according to court records.

Johnson found himself in court Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of ammunition without a FOID card, police said.

He was held on $50,000 bond.
