Amazon Cloud Player joins Ford Sync's list of supported in-car streaming apps

You can now listen to Amazon Cloud Player in your car, assuming you've got an Android smartphone anyway. The online retailer just announced that Cloud Player is now available in select Ford Sync Applink-equipped vehicles. Specifically, that includes 2013 Ford Fiesta, Mustang, Focus, E-Series, C-MAX Hybrid, Expedition, Fusion, F-150 and Super Duty models. Owners can now pair Amazon's Cloud Player app for Android with Ford's in-vehicle connectivity system. From there you'll be able to take advantage of Sync's capabilities including voice commands and dashboard controls.

"We know that cars and music go hand-in-hand," said Steve Boom, Amazon's VP of digital music. "That’s why we’re excited to bring Cloud Player to the car." Amazon isn't the first audio partner that Ford has brought aboard; Rhapsody support was added in January, and Slacker Radio gained similar compatibility back in 2011. Even so, it's hard to argue that supporting Amazon and its vast digital ecosystem is a win for both Ford and its customers.
