Indonesian prosecutors say Lindsay Sandiford, 56, has violated the country's strict drug laws

Indonesia prosecutors are seeking a 15-year prison sentence for a British woman accused of smuggling cocaine worth £1.5m ($2.5m) into the resort island of Bali.

Prosecutor Lie Putra Setiawan told the Denpasar district court that Lindsay Sandiford, 56, had violated the country's strict narcotics law.

Sandiford was arrested in May when customs officers at Bali's airport discovered 3.8kg (8.4lb) of cocaine in her luggage.

Another Briton, Rachel Dougall, was sentenced to one year in prison in a separate trial on Thursday for failing to report a crime to authorities, and a third, Paul Beales, received a four-year sentence the previous day for illegal possession of 3.1g of hashish.

Indonesia has extremely strict drug laws and convicted smugglers are often executed.
