CHICAGO — Former Haitian presidential candidate Wyclef Jean chimed in on Chicago's murder rate, questioning the city's "shoot first, think last" mentality in a recently released rap song.

"If you want to get the blood out their eye, show them love," the former Fugees MC suggests in "Bang Bang Bang," which was released Sunday.

The song's references to Chicago include the claim that the "Ghost of Al Capone roams the street."

Jean also says "everybody loves Sosa" in Chicago, but the song doesn't make it clear who Sosa is.

Sammy Sosa, a former Cubs slugger who was caught with a corked bat and tested positive for steroids, hails from the Dominican Republic, which is on the same island as Jean's native Haiti.

Chief Keef is a teen rapper who is from Chicago and who affectionately calls himself "Big Gucci Sosa."

"Bang Bang Bang" was unveiled a day before the release of his mixtape, "April Showers."

According to the former Fugees MC's Twitter account, Jean was in Chicago Sunday shooting a video on the South Side and the "East Side," which could be the Far Southeast Side neighborhood bordering Indiana.

"I am in Chicago on the East Side shooting video for Aprilshowers mix tape coming out tom!" Jean tweeted.
