In pictures: Building sites reveal unseen London
Photographer Andy Spain has taken photographs over the last few years of construction sites in London. He said: "When a building is knocked down it reveals a view for a short period of time before the next building goes up to obscure it again." Pictured here is the area around Ludgate and the Old Bailey.
He said he was "privileged to get to see these amazing views from rooftops" such as this one of the construction of the Rolls Building of the High Court in the Strand.
He said once buildings were under construction, and complete, these sights were lost again. Here is the site at 60 Holborn Viaduct.
Here is the Queen Victoria Street site under construction and in the background, the Shard - the UK's tallest building.
Mr Spain is known for his architectural photographs and often takes pictures of the building sector at work. Pictured here is the area around One New Change in the City.
The site of the former Middlesex Hospital is currently undergoing a £750m redevelopment. After Westminster City Council granted it planning permission earlier this month, it is due to be turned into 237 private apartments and 54 onsite affordable homes.
Bishopsgate in the City of London. The site is being turned into a 40-storey tower block. Andy Spain's exhibition LoveLDN organised by Wordsearch opens on 11 February until 22 February at the Kohn Perdersen Fox Gallery.
