Spotify has added 1 million paying subscribers since December and has a total of 6 million paying customers, according to a report today from CNET. The news comes as Spotify appears to be setting the pace among streaming music services when it comes to convincing music listeners to reach into their wallets.

Spotify now has a total of 24 million active users across the globe. The Stockholm-based company still has a ways to go before proving that its business model can produce profits — just like most of the other competitors in the sector. Since launching in the United States 17 months ago, Spotify has amassed about 1 million paying users in this country, according to CNET. The Verge reported three weeks ago that Spotify is currently trying to get better licensing terms from the three major record labels.
