Tim Cook Confirms Apple Looking At New Product Lines

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed at Apple’s shareholder meeting that the company is looking into new product categories. More importantly, Cook said that Apple wants to use this new category of products to create profit, not marketshare. Cook also stated that Apple isn’t looking to “pressing a button or two” to create the most amount of devices on the market, but rather wants to focus on creating quality products.

When asked about new products, Cook said the following:

Obviously, we’re looking at new categories. We don’t talk about them, but we’re looking at them.

We’ve heard many rumors of future Apple products. Beyond the standard rumors of the iPad 5, iPad mini II and iPhone 5S/6, the Apple iWatch as well as an Apple-branded Google Glass competitor have been rumored for months. These rumors are heavily backed by Apple patents as well. Apple has patented near-eye technology that could be used in future smart glasses. In terms of an iWatch, just last week an Apple watch patent with a flexible touchscreen surfaced. Both of these projects may never make it to the market, but it’ll still be interesting to see how things play out.
