Camberwell is the latest addition to south London's brilliant Free Film Festivals initiative.
The idea of screening free films in local venues to nurture community spirit was first tested in 2010 in Peckham and Nunhead and became a regular fixture. New Cross and Deptford followed in 2012, and now Camberwell's first programme is ready to roll with parallel plans afoot for Herne Hill this year too.
Camberwell's programme is delightfully varied, including a Motown documentary, funny favourite The Big Lebowski, set-in-south-London Attack the Block, Almodovar's All About My Mother, an afternoon of London Transport films, the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz and a double bill of Best in Show and Hairspray to wind it all up.
And, of course, this community cine-celebration woudn't be complete without an appearance from the infamous "Camberwell Carrot" in Withnail and I.
Given the drop in temperature this week, it's good to see that all but one screening takes place in a pub, cafe or community venue, but Sunday's pedal-powered showing of kids' film Ratatouille might be a bit bracing at the bandstand in Myatt's Field Park. Wrap up warm!
