Plans for a £160,000 pedestrian and cycle route that will help pupils in a Berkshire town get to school have been approved.

Wokingham council said the Earley to Bulmershe scheme was its largest single investment in cycling in a decade.

It will link the underpass in Henley Wood Road and Pond Head Lane, Earley, with Addington and Bulmershe schools in Woodlands Avenue, Woodley.

Work is expected to start in February and be completed by the end of March.

Existing footpaths and cycleways will be widened, pedestrian crossings improved and new street lighting installed.
