Extra Extra: Grant Park Loses 877 Trees During Construction

  • While doing construction on the underground parking garage under Grant Park, 877 trees were removed. Some of them will be turned into furniture for the parks. Officials said they'd considered moving the trees, but it was prohibitively expensive to do so. When the garage is completed, more than 1,000 trees will be planted on top. [Sun-Times]
