A man is being sought by police after the body of a woman was found in a maisonette in south London.

The body of Anastasia Voykina, 23, a Russian national, was discovered at the property in James Boswell Close in Streatham at about 02:00 GMT on Monday.

Police want to speak with Felipe Lopes, 27, in connection with the murder inquiry. He was in a relationship with her and might hold "vital information".

Ms Voykina last spoke with her family on 30 December, police said.

This is believed to be the last known contact with her.

'Do not approach'

No-one has been arrested following the discovery of the body.

Det Ch Insp Sheila Stewart said: "I am releasing this image of Felipe Lopes as I believe he holds vital information in relation to the murder of Anastasia Voykina.

"If you have seen Felipe Lopes or know of his whereabouts, please do not approach him but contact the police."

Police said the last time anyone was known to have been in contact with Mr Lopes was on 5 January in the Piccadilly area of central London but the CCTV image released shows him on 6 January.

Members of the public have been asked to dial 999 if they spot him.

Officers went to the address after a report that the resident had "not been seen for some time", police said.

A post-mortem examination will take place later.
