JVC launches two Mirrorlink-enabled head units at CES
If you derive immense pleasure at the thought that your whip and Android or Symbian device can be tightly integrated, then you may want to sit down. JVC is adding a further two units to its line of KW-NSX MirrorLink-enabled head units that'll let you span your mobile's display onto your dashboard. The KW-NSX600 comes with a 6.2-inch WVGA touchscreen, while the KW-NSX700's similarly-equipped screen is 7-inches wide. Both come with hands-free calls, audio streaming, voice dialing and a MHL connector so you can watch a movie when you're parked up. The NSX600 will cost $649.95 and arrives in March, while the NSX 700 is $699.95 and will be available to order at some point this month. PR? It's down there, somewhere.

JVC MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT DEBUTS TWO NEW MIRRORLINK-ENABLED MULTIMEDIA RECEIVERS IN 2013 FOR A SAFE AND OPTIMIZED DRIVING ENVIRONMENT
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2012 - JVC Mobile Entertainment, a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated mobile, audio, and video products, proudly announced today the debut of two MirrorLink™ enabled Multimedia Receivers for Android™ and Symbian™ smartphones. The KW-NSX600 and KW-NSX700 will join existing model KW-NSX1 that was released this past December.
MirrorLink technology enables the driver seamless integrated control right from their dashboard by syncing operation with Samsung's Galaxy S III Android™ Smartphone and Samsung Drive Link** Application or Nokia Symbian™ phones utilizing their Car Mode Application. This car-connectivity standard duplicates the phone/app display screens onto the head unit's monitor and allows the user to access their phone apps that have been optimized for in-car use, creating a safer and more streamlined driving experience. The technology provides a user-friendly gateway to access apps for music playback, car navigation, and hands-free telephone communication.
Available now in the Samsung App** as well as the Nokia Store, key features of the Drive Link** and Car Mode MirrorLink applications enable the user to easily access playback and control of music and music apps, voice-calling functions, car navigation and various Google location options such as Maps and Street View.
MIRRORLINK WITH "DRIVE LINK"** AND "CAR MODE" (All models)
The Samsung Car Mode application, "Drive Link," groups individual apps into three easily accessible categories –"Music", "Location", and "Phone." Selecting a particular category places car navigation, entertainment and hands-free phone communication quickly within reach. Similarly, the Nokia "Car Mode with MirrorLink" applications are grouped in three categories –"Call", "Drive", and "Music."
MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) (KW-NSX700, KW-NSX600)
Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) is an industry standard for a mobile audio/video interface for directly connecting mobile phones and other portable consumer electronics (CE) devices in-dash vehicle receivers and in-home CE display devices. The MHL standard features a Micro-USB cable to support – high-definition (HD) video and digital audio while simultaneously charging the connected device. Both the KW-NSX700 and KW-NSX600 allow inputs from MHL enabled cell phones for video playback.
EXPANDED BLUETOOTH FUNCTION
For 2013, Bluetooth® connectivity is built-in to MirrorLink receivers for a safer and more in-sync driving experience. An on-screen voice command button allows for voice dialing activation with the ability to automatically detect smart phone voice recognition. In addition, manual echo cancellation and microphone level adjustments provide the user with more control over variable situations. Android devices will also be able to control Pandora® Internet Radio through wireless commands such as play/pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. Similarly, Bluetooth® connectivity with all Bluetooth® supported models will allow for simple pairing of up to five compatible devices, voice dialing and audio streaming with play/pause, fast forward, and rewind features.
The KW-NSX700 MirrorLink enabled receiver features a 7-inch WVGA motorized widescreen touch panel display while the KW-NSX600 features a 6.1-inch WVGA screen. Both units include built-in Bluetooth® wireless technology including phonebook transfer, hands-free, audio streaming, voice recognition dialing and alphabetical search for phonebook. The receivers also include a 1A current capable USB power supply with drive-change mode for smartphones as well as dual play features. Both units are WAV/MP3/WMA compatible, and feature a 3-band parametric iEQ, MOS-FET 50 watts x 4, three sets of 4V pre-outs, line input terminals, and are steering wheel remote control ready. The KW-NSX700 will carry a Best Value of $699.95 and will be available for shipping in January while the KW-NSX600 will carry a Best Value of $649.95 and be available in March.
The KW-NSX1 receiver includes DVD/CD/USB capabilities and features a fully detachable 6.1-inch WVGA, display, a 1A power supply USB port including drive change mode, and compatibility with App-Link Mode for iPhone connection. The unit also features MOS-FET 50 watts x 4, Front/Rear/Subwoofer 4 Volt Line Outputs, and is WAV/MP3/WMA compatible.
