Arcade Brewery Wants Your Help Creating Their First Beer

2012_5_8_arcade.jpg Arcade Brewery hopes to stand out from the crush of local beer companies opening in Chicago by being a crowdsourced operation where the public is allowed a say in everything regarding a beer’s development, from label designs to recipes. Founder Christopher Tourre first worked with this concept with the experimental “Public Brewery,” a DIY brewing operation at Spoke art gallery in the West Loop. Tourre has also done the Kickstarter route to raise funds for Arcade and recently graduated from Siebel Institute of Technology.

Now Arcade is ready to get you involved in the brewmaking process. Their “public brews” will be seasonal selections where they suggest a style of beer and you list name ideas. They’ve also opened up label designs to local artists to create the artwork for the beer. The first public brew is a Scotch ale. The person who comes up with the name of the beer will receive a prize pack from Arcade. For the artist who creates the winning design for the beer, $300 is in it for you.

Arcade is taking suggestions for the name of the beer on their Facebook page until 11:59 p.m. Feb. 5. For more information on the design contest parameters, click here.
