GitHub has given you the power to use its social coding website without the distractions that so often clutter our internet life. At least, that's the idea.

The massively popular online service now includes a button that temporarily clears the junk out of your web browser's window and presents you with a pristine, un-distracting white or black page where you can compose your thoughts.

It's called Zen Mode. And as of Thursday, it's available anytime you comment, report a coding issue, or submit a code-fix on the website.

GitHub says it will help writers "get in the zone."

It works pretty much like YouTube's Full Screen button, except it takes over your browser window, not the full computer screen. GitHub offers scribes the choice of an all-white or all-black background.

"This will immediately launch you into Zen Writing Mode, removing all distractions so you can focus completely on writing," the company said in a blog post.
