London driver row woman hit by car

A woman involved in an apparent row with a fellow driver in London died when she was hit by another car.

Police said the victim left her car in the dispute in Barnet, at about 18:40 GMT on Monday. She was hit by another car and carried along on its bonnet.

It is understood she died after coming off the bonnet and hitting a lamppost. The woman, in her 30s, was declared dead at the scene.

She is yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem examination is due.

Police believe the driver whose car struck the woman was not involved in the row but left the scene after the accident.

Eyewitnesses told BBC London the row was over a parking space.

The victim is understood to be a mother of two young children.

Police officers later visited a house in Barnet and arrested a woman over the death.

She is now in custody at a north London police station. A Vauxhall Insignia was later recovered.

A friend of the victim said: "We were all there last night, she was the most fantastic person.

"She was just trying to get the kids in the car and get the car out of here."
