CHICAGO — They won't be making movies about this alleged boyfriend-and-girlfriend stick-up team.
Breeana Anthony, 19, and Jamael Harris, 20, appeared in Cook County Bond Court Friday on charges of armed robbery after allegedly robbing another young couple Wednesday in the Gresham neighborhood.
The victims, a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman, encountered Anthony and Harris Wednesday night near the intersection of 86th and Loomis streets, according to prosecutors and court documents.
Prosecutors said Anthony stayed in a gold Chevrolet Cavalier while Harris approached the victims' vehicle.
He entered their car and stole a cell phone from the man and $40 from the woman at gunpoint before jumping into the driver's seat of the getaway car to flee, prosecutors said.
Police stopped Harris later the same night in the same gold Chevy, according to court documents.
Police said they turned on their flashing lights and siren when he failed to use his turn signal and made an illegal U-turn.
Harris, who according to prosecutors has never had a valid driver's license, could not provide proof of insurance, prosecutors said. He was also on parole for attempted residential burglary.
Having heard reports of the robbery, police recognized Harris' vehicle as matching the description of the one driven by the robbery suspects and decided to take him into custody, according to court records.
A witness later identified Harris and Anthony as the robbers, according to court documents.
Harris, of the 7900 block of South Elizabeth Street, and Anthony, of the 9300 block of South Bishop Street, have a child together, prosecutors said.
A judge ordered Harris held in lieu of $100,000 bail and set Anthony's bail at $50,000.
