Two bodies found in North Finchley house fire

Fire crews found one body in the kitchen and the other in a bedroom

Two bodies have been found by fire crews tackling a fire in north London.

Six fire engines and more than 35 firefighters were called to the house in Fallow Court Avenue, North Finchley, just after 06:00 GMT.

The fire damaged most of the ground and first floor as well as the staircase and roof of the semi-detached property.

Firefighters found a woman's body in the kitchen and a man's body in a bedroom on the first floor. The fire is being treated as "unexplained".

London Fire Brigade took two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Crews from Finchley, Southgate, Barnet and Hornsey fire stations were at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said: "Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, a male and a female.

"Inquiries continue and the fire is being treated as unexplained."
