Your pictures: Skies
Each week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme is "skies" and we begin with an image sent in by Sally Sallett who explains her picture: "A beautiful blue sky seen through a Jaume Plensa metal sculpture at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park."
Richard Andrews: "C-Curve installation by Anish Kapoor on the South Downs above Brighton. A lovely open space to challenge the mind with a mirror."
Hugh Wilton: "Dusting the skies on a sunny day on the south coast, trying to chase the last few clouds out of the sky."
Elise Garton: "This photograph shows paratroopers delivering the game ball at a Notre Dame football game last December in Orlando, Florida. They landed right on the 50-yard line - a pretty amazing way to start a football game!"
Ruth Calvo: "This was taken in Lake Tekapo, NZ. My friend and I were having a drink at Tekapo's observatory when we looked up and saw that amazing halo produced by ice crystals which created a perfect spot in the sky."
Cath Branwood: "I was out walking my dogs near this electricity pylon as the sun was setting and it looked like a storm was on the way!"
Adrian Gallop: "Last year while visiting 'the driest desert in the world', Atacama Desert, I encountered rain every day! The highly unusual weather did, however, create some dramatic skies."
Alex McAnarney: "I was at home working on my thesis, when suddenly reality turned a dark green. As the clouds gathered and began to spiral, I thought a tornado was barrelling our way. It turned out to be a derecho storm that swept from northern Indiana to the mid-Atlantic coast."
Andy Herron: "Jumping off a sand dune during a trip to the desert in Dubai."
George McBean: "This photo of a moonlit sky over Edinburgh Castle was taken by me last year."
Alexis Birkill: " A five-photo panorama taken from Porteau Cove Provincial Park, between Vancouver and Whistler in British Columbia, Canada. In the foreground is the ferry terminal, with the Milky Way in the sky above."
And finally a photo by Pauline Richardson who said: "The Northern lights fill the skies in Iceland." The next theme is "hats", and the deadline for your entries is 22 January. If you would like to enter, send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. Further details and terms can be found by following the link below this gallery.
