Man jailed for shed burial killing of Stephen Ojerinola

A man who killed a teenager and buried his body under a garden shed has been jailed indefinitely.

The body of Stephen Ojerinola, 18, was found last November under rubble, soil, concrete and the newly-built shed at William Regan's home in south London.

William Regan, 37, of Kidbrooke, south London, admitted manslaughter in June, on the eve of an Old Bailey retrial.

He stabbed Mr Ojerinola 10 times as they came to blows over the proceeds of a burglary.

During the trial, jurors heard Mr Ojerinola was a drug dealer and Regan a drug addict who had recently been involved in a burglary.

Max Hill, QC, prosecuting, said Mr Ojerinola may have first hit Regan over the head with a bat and cut his arm with a knife.

Ten wounds suffered by Mr Ojerinola may then have been caused in a struggle between the two men in April last year, Mr Hill said.

His body was found seven months later in November, last year, after the newly erected shed was taken down.

Regan was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection for manslaughter and told he would serve a minimum of seven years.

He was also given concurrent jail terms for burglary and preventing a burial.

He had been originally charged with murder but pleaded guilty to the other offences.

Judge Richard Hawkins said: "Your response began in self-defence, but rapidly turned into unlawful violence."

When police searched the house, they found traces of blood and experts then excavated the ground underneath the shed where they found Mr Ojerinola's body.

Lee Davis, 36, also of Kidbrooke, was jailed for three years for helping Regan bury the body.
