Months after picking up mobile app maker Penguin Digital, the online photo service is at it again. This time it’s buying cloud-based image storage site ThisLife for an undisclosed amount.

Launched in 2010, ThisLife is a service you can use to upload, organize, and share images online. With the purchase, Shutterfly is attempting to create an end-to-end solution for users hoping to not only store their photos but to print them out as well.

Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that roughly 18 billion images are stuttered on ThisLife’s servers. That’s a lot of pics from a lot of people.

“[This purchase] uniquely positions Shutterfly to be the leading full service solution for storing, organizing, and sharing life’s most important memories.” Shutterfly CEO Jeffrey Housenbold said in a statement

Shutterfly has had a busy few months, having acquired Kodak’s gallery printing service for $23.8 million last March. Last month, it also announced its plans to license Kodak’s imaging patents, a move the company said underscored its intent to invest in its intellectual property portfolio.
