Daniel Jones heroin death: Pair accused of manslaughter

Two people have appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a toddler who died from a heroin overdose in the West Midlands.

Emma Bradburn, 33, and Simon Jones, 29, both of the same address in Windsor Avenue, Penn, Wolverhampton, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

They are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

Daniel Jones, aged 23 months, died in a property in the Penn area of Wolverhampton, in May.

Forensic tests showed his death, initially unexplained, was caused by a heroin overdose, police said.

Appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court, Ms Bradburn and Mr Jones spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and date of births and entered pleas through their solicitors.

There was no application for bail and they were were both remanded in custody.

They are both due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 7 March.
