M6 crash: Police name brothers and a woman who died

Two brothers and a woman who died in a Christmas Day accident on the M6 in Staffordshire have been named.

West Midlands Police named the boys as Adnan Habib, 10, and Mohammed Arsalaan Habib, four, and a 32-year-old woman as Bushra Tazarib.

All three were from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and were travelling to a family wedding in the Greater Manchester area, police said.

The mother of the boys, who was driving, survived the accident.

Their car overturned in a northbound lane between junctions 14, near Stafford, and 15, near Stoke-on-Trent, at about 11:25 GMT.

The mother of the two boys and a relative who was a passenger were both treated in hospital for their injuries.

They have been discharged and are returning home, a spokesman said.

Staffordshire police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, involving a red Ford Focus, to contact them.

Ch Insp David Bird said: "We will be doing reconstruction work and a thorough examination of the vehicles and the scene itself and hopefully that will provide a clue as to what happened and what the cause was."

The northbound stretch of M6 was shut for several hours after the crash, which happened at about 11:25 GMT.

The southbound section of the motorway was initially closed but reopened mid-afternoon.
