Just about everyone knows that Superman hails from the planet Krypton, but until recently, not even the comic's creators knew the exact location of the iconic superhero's planet. DC Comics has chosen Neil DeGrasse Tyson to pick a scientifically sound location, and the Hayden Planetarium Director will even make an appearance in the next issue, Action Comics Superman #14. Discover Magazine received an advance copy, and even though the article steers clear of spoilers, it does say that Krypton orbits a red dwarf known as LHS 2520.

The star is just 27 light years from Earth, in the southern constellation of Corvus, and is smaller, colder, and considerably less bright than our own Sun. Superman visits Neil DeGrasse Tyson at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City just over once a year to observe his planet's orbit around the star, known as Rao in the DC universe. The latest issue will be available this Wednesday, November 7th. To keep you busy in the meantime, here's Tyson's appearance in episode four of On The Verge.
