CHICAGO — A Des Plaines man with a violent rap sheet has been charged with the murder of a 42-year-old Cicero man at a Northwest Side bar.

David P. Marshall, 38, of Des Plaines, was ordered held without bail Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder, according to court records.

He is accused of gunning down Pablo Fernandez in July on the Northwest Side.

Prosecutors said the murder followed an altercation between the two men on July 21 that started at a bar in the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. During a fist fight that ensued, Marshall allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Fernandez. He was later identified by witnesses as the shooter.

Marshall was found guilty of mob action in 1992 and battery and resisting arrest in 1994. He was convicted of aggravated assault in 2004, and battery in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
