London 2012: Athletes begin their journey home

Thousands of athletes from across the globe start to make their way home as normal life resumes after the Olympics.

Heathrow Airport is expecting so many competitors, it has created a temporary terminal to process all of them and their luggage.

The BBC's Jenny Hill caught up with some athletes as they were preparing to leave the airport, including Tim Morehouse, a fencer from the USA said there had been a lot of trading of souvenirs on the final day of the Olympic Games.

Some of the Canadian women's football team showed off their bronze medals, along with Demetrius Pinder, gold medallist 4 x 400 relay for the Bahamas, Tumua Anae and Courtney Mathewson, gold medallists in Water Polo for the USA and Katie Taylor, Gold medallist in women's lightweight boxing for Ireland.
