Logitech Announces New Wireless Keyboard And Trackpad For Mac And iOS

Logitech has announced two new additions to its line of iOS and Mac accessories today. These include the new Bluetooth Easy-Switch Keyboard and the Rechargeable Trackpad for Mac, which will compete directly with Apple’s own wireless keyboard and trackpad.

Logitech’s Easy-Switch Keyboard has a lot of the same technology features from its already existing bluetooth keyboard, like mapping devices and buttons that allow users to switch easily and quickly between their Mac and iPad. It can connect to three Apple devices at one time.

The keyboard is made from aluminum, like Apple’s own Wireless Keyboard, and Logitech has included backlit keys in the keyboard, which makes typing in the dark much easier. By using sensors it can detect when hands are about to touch the keys, which turns on its illumination to match the lighting levels in the room. This keyboard runs off a rechargeable battery that charges with a USB cable.

The Rechargeable Trackpad is Logitech’s first standalone trackpad for Mac. Like Apple’s own Magic Trackpad, this rechargeable trackpad has a large, smooth-glass, multi-touch surface to control the pointer and use gestures. It’s also supposed to be resistant to fingerprints and scratches.

The trackpad has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges using a USB cable, and Logitech says the battery can supposedly be used for one month on a full charge. There’s also an On/Off switch so that you can conserve battery power when not using the trackpad. It also has a range of up to 30 feet, and it can still be used while charging.

These new Mac and iOS accessories will be available in the U.S. and Europe in January 2013. The Easy-Switch Keyboard will go for $99.99 while the Rechargeable Trackpad will sell for $69.99.
