Trafalgar Square Christmas tree lights switched on

The lights on Trafalgar Square's Christmas tree have been switched on for the 65th time.
Since 1947 the pine tree in central London has been a gift from the people of Norway in recognition of Britain's support during World War II.
The Lord Mayor of Westminster, councillor Angela Harvey, and the Mayor of Oslo, Stian Berger Rosland, attended.
They had selected the tree in Norway on 23 November.
The tree was transported 700 miles across the North Sea on a ferry to Immingham, Lincolnshire, and then carried by lorry from the docks to Trafalgar Square.
The ceremony on Thursday included performances from the St Martin-in-the-Fields choir, Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth and the Regent Hall Band of the Salvation Army.
