Bait digger finds World War II shells in Southend

More than 30 World War II shells were blown up in a controlled explosion after they were found by a person digging for fish bait.
The devices were discovered in the Ray Gut off Southend at about 06:00 GMT on New Year's Day.
Thames Coastguard sent its team from Southend and called for Essex Police and the Colchester-based Army bomb disposal unit to attend.
The 32 shells were detonated on the town's foreshore.
