CHICAGO — Three people suffered head injuries from violent turbulence on an American Airlines flight headed from New Orleans to Chicago Wednesday morning, officials said.
The three passengers on American Eagle Flight 3720, operated by American Airlines, complained of head injuries related to the turbulence during the plane's descent into O'Hare Airport, according to the Chicago Fire Department's media office.
One passenger had to be taken from the tarmac to a local hospital, while the other two declined to be transported, the fire department said.
The extent of the passengers' injuries was not immediately clear.
The flight, a Bombardier CRJ-700, had 26 passengers total, American Airlines spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said. The plane was descending from 31,000 feet to 29,000 feet when the turbulence struck, she added.
