Pope's ex-butler to go on trial for 'aggravated theft'

In the long history of the Vatican, there has never been anything quite like this - the Pope's butler is about to go on trial in proceedings that begin on Saturday.

He has reportedly admitted stealing highly sensitive documents from his master's desk and passing them to a journalist.

The butler has been charged with "aggravated theft".
