A new version of Apple's iBooks reader app appears to have been revealed in an iTunes listing for Belgian comic book Largo Winch. Made available yesterday, issue 18 of the comic claims to require "iBooks 3.0 or later," while the latest version of the app currently listed by Apple remains 2.2, released almost exactly one month ago. The apparent slip-up was spotted by French Apple blog iGen, which points out that the timing of the update would make sense given the near-certainty that Apple will release a new, smaller iPad at an event in San Jose on Tuesday. A device with a smaller screen will presumably require updated software to display content, particularly with graphics-heavy titles like comics.
