GameStop Kids speciality stores launching across the US

The world's largest video game retailer has launched its latest retail concept: GameStop Kids. These new locations will focus specifically on kid-friendly games.

The world's largest video game retailer has launched its latest retail concept: GameStop Kids. These new locations will focus specifically on kid-friendly games, from Angry Birds to LEGO to Skylanders and Minecraft.

"We are always striving to make the shopping experience better for holiday gift givers," GameStop VP Bob Puzon said in the announcement. "GameStop Kids takes that one step further by having the hottest brands and products that people of all ages can love."

Eighty locations will roll out throughout select malls in the US. The first is opening today at Grapevine Mills in Texas. Other locations, to open in the coming weeks, can be found on GameStop's website.

Finally, a retail experience that will have GameStop employees hawking copies of iCarly 2: iJoin the Click! over Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

      In an age where brick and mortar stores are starting to suffer, this sounds like an odd move. On the other hand however, it might prove successful to a point.

      I like how they drop Minecraft as a kid friendly game.

      You know, that game where you can build a gateway to hell, eat the rotting flesh of zombies, mix poison, and be eaten by spiders.

      The modern FuncoLand? Now that I remember there were a bunch of seedy looking people at the mall FuncoLand store.
