Motorola introduced the Droid RAZR HD to the world at an event co-produced by Verizon, but it turns out Big Red won't be the first carrier to offer the device for sale. That honor has gone to Rogers in Canada, which today announced availability of the handset — known as the RAZR HD LTE to our friends up north. There, Rogers has exclusive dibs on Moto's latest flagship which features a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 chipset, and LTE connectivity. Unfortunately you'll be dealing with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, though a forthcoming update will bring the handset up to date with Jelly Bean.

$99.99 and agreeing to a three-year contract is what it takes for eligible subscribers to take home the RAZR HD LTE, though it can also be purchased outright for $599.99. You won't find it on Rogers' website just yet, but a friendly chat support rep confirmed to us that it should be in stock at your local brick-and-mortar store. As for when Verizon customers can expect to bring home the device, the carrier has yet to announce a definitive release date. When it does finally circle a date on the calendar, we'll be sure to let you know.
