Google Play makes trial subscriptions available for in-app purchases

Users can try out a monthly in-app subscription before they commit

Back in May, Google Play had finally announced that it would support in-app subscriptions to further entice users to funnel money into the Android ecosystem. Now, Android users can take advantage of a free trial period for in-app subscriptions before they officially commit to anything.

As laid out in the official Android Developer Forums, developers can set up a trial period from the Developer Console to allow users to try out content before they commit to it. Trial periods must be a minimum of seven days, though the length can vary depending on the product. Users can also view the status of all their active subscriptions from the My Apps screen in the Google Play app and cancel from there.

Though users will still have to enter in their payment information, the monthly fee won’t be charged until the end of the trial period. Annoyingly, if the duration of the trial subscription is changed while a user is in the middle of it, only new subscribers will be able to take advantage of it.
