Three people have been arrested after a policeman was injured when he was hit by a car in south London.

The Metropolitan Police said the officer was hurt when he and a colleague visited an address in Arlingford Road, Tulse Hill, on Sunday morning.

The officer spotted a black BMW parked on double yellow lines nearby and saw something being thrown from the window.

The 35-year-old went to speak to the occupant, who drove off, hitting him.

Severe bruising

The officer was thrown over the bonnet and landed on the pavement, according to witnesses. The BMW then drove off in the direction of Brixton.

The officer was taken to Kings College Hospital with a broken wrist and severe bruising.

He was discharged on Sunday evening, police said.

Two 26-year-old men and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and are currently being questioned.
