Revealed at a press event earlier this month, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 7 is now available for $199 today from Amazon.com. The 7-inch tablet includes a 1280 x 800 7-inch IPS screen, HD webcam for Skype and 16GB of storage. Amazon is also shipping a 32GB version on October 25th, with only the 16GB version available today. In our review of the 16GB version, we concluded that the Kindle Fire HD 7 is a "really good tablet for doing some very specific things."
Alongside the new Fire HD 7, Amazon has also updated its existing Fire which is available at $159 today. The updated Fire includes twice the usual RAM, a faster processor, and longer battery life. Amazon has also updated the Fire to include access to Amazon's new X-Ray for Movies, X-Ray for Books, Immersion Reading, Whispersync for Voice, and Kindle FreeTime features.
Finally, Amazon has also cut the price of its Kindle. Shipping today, the $69 Kindle includes ads, but an ad-free version is also available for $89 — down from the usual $109 price.
