Apple has created a new content dispute tool for the iTunes App store that encourages third-party developers to work out the problem amongst themselves. As 9to5Mac points out, the new tool allows developers who feel that their app has been infringed upon to file a complaint with their contact information and a description of the infringement. Apple will then connect the claimant and the developer of the allegedly infringing app in the hopes that they can come to a solution together. If a solution cannot be reached, the developers can contact the App Store legal team to request further action. Apple's strict App Store guidelines attempt to prevent apps that copy one another from becoming available, but this tool will allow developers to resolve situations that aren't clearly defined by the rules or the apps that manage to slip through the cracks.
