Crash between lorry and two cars on M2 in Kent kills man

An 80-year-old man has died following a crash between a lorry and two cars on the M2 in Kent.

The motorist, who is believed to be from the Swale area, died at the scene on the coastbound carriageway between Rochester and Gillingham on Wednesday.

His female passenger was airlifted to King's College Hospital in south London with injuries believed to be serious.

A 67-year-old woman driving the second car was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital with minor injuries.

The lorry driver was not injured.

The motorway was closed between junctions three and four for nine hours after the collision, which happened at about 13:00 BST.
