There's plenty of demand for Chrome on iOS, but most third-party apps still only let users directly open a link in Safari. Now, Google hopes to change this by laying out exactly how to add Chrome support to an app in iOS. The company has provided sample code for checking whether Chrome is installed and, if it is, adding an option to open links with it. In practice, it's similar to adding an "open in Dropbox" option to a Word or PDF document in an app, though the process of implementing it is different. Many people will use Chrome regardless of its compatibility with the rest of iOS, but being able to integrate with popular apps like Twitter is a vital step towards becoming a real alternative to Safari.
