Canabalt was one of the first great endless running games for the iPhone, and a few years after its release it's getting a big new update. In a post on his blog, creator Adam Saltsman explained instead of creating a sequel, he's planning to launch a free update that could add new features like a two-person multiplayer mode, eight "hardcore" game modes, and Game Center achievements. While nothing is guaranteed just yet, Saltsman says that these features are "pretty concrete," and it sounds like there might be even more in store for the update — though there's currently no word on when we might expect it to launch. While this is the first time the iOS version will include multiplayer support, two years ago the feature was added exclusively to a version of the game running on a 1980s arcade machine in Winnipeg. And if you haven't had the chance to check out Canabalt yet, it's currently on sale for $0.99 in the App Store.
