Verizon has slashed $100 from its asking price for Motorola's Droid RAZR Maxx, now offering the long-lasting handset at $199.99 with the typical two-year service commitment. The reduced MSRP is visible on the front page of Verizon's homepage as of now, though some third-party retailers haven't yet caught on. Somewhat perplexingly, the original model is still being sold for the same rate of $199.99, despite a substantially less-capacious battery. Unless the extra two millimeters of bulk is a major concern, we're not sure why anyone would decide against the Maxx's unparalleled longevity in favor of the regular Droid RAZR. Seeing as how Motorola is offering the device for $99.99 on-contract, we wouldn't be surprised to see the carrier follow suit.

Alongside the price cut, Verizon's recently-announced partnership with Color is also being highlighted, with the RAZR Maxx's description now touting the app's ability to share live 30-second video snippets on Facebook. "Capture what’s happening as it’s happening with HQ video and sound—exclusively on Verizon 4G LTE", it reads. "This is life as it happens, raw and unfiltered." And if livestreaming your every moment somehow doesn't carry much appeal, take comfort in the knowledge that Android 4.0 is due to arrive on the handset any day now.
