Nintendo has announced New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS. The game will be out in August in Japan, and is in the same 2D/3D style as the previous New Super Mario Bros. games on DS and Wii. We have little to go on in the way of gameplay specifics, but Nintendo will undoubtedly show more of the game at E3 in June. The company also announced a major 3DS firmware update coming April 25th that will enable folder organization (finally!) and allow game patches and upgrades to be issued easily.

New downloadable Pokemon software is on the way and will tie into the Black 2 and White 2 games that are coming on June 23rd in Japan. Pokemon AR Searcher is a shooting game that lets you "capture" Pokemon with your console's camera, and Pokedex Pro is an expanded version of the previous Pokemon database software.

Also on the way this year is a 20th anniversary compilation of Kirby games for Wii, along with a confirmed autumn launch in Japan for Tobidase: Doubutsu no Mori, the 3DS iteration of the Animal Crossing series. Most of the solid information in the broadcast was for the Japanese market, though importers may be interested to note confirmed July release dates for Taiko no Tatsujin 3DS featuring girl group AKB48, Rune Factory 4, and Etrian Odyssey IV.
